Wireless Measurement Collection & Analysis

LSIZE Wireless represents the 5th generation of LSIZE caliper-based lumber size control for the mill.  LSIZE Wireless is the only wireless measurement collection system designed specifically for forest products manufacturing facilities.
 

LSIZE Wireless is a caliper-based wireless measurement collection and analysis tool designed for use in forest products manufacturing facilities such as sawmills, veneer mills, panel plants, etc. In order to complete your LSIZE Wireless system, you need to select a Setup & Reporting Option.  The option you select will be based upon the type of analysis and report generation you need to do with the measurement information collected by LSIZE Wireless LSIZE Mobile software in the Handheld allows you to view displays of shape charts, histograms and control charts as you collect your measurements. Take measurements from multiple machine centers with your gage and the Mobile Module, and wirelessly send them to the Handheld.  Download your measurements via the Docking Station to the LSIZE software on PC for long-term analysis and report generation, or print reports using the LSIZE Mobile Quick Print. Each machine center, cutting location and target size that is being monitored is stored in a separate measurement bin.  You can specify up to 300 separate measurement bins.

About LSIZE Wireless
The wireless technology that is used by LSIZE Wireless was developed by MicroRidge and has been shipping to general manufacturing facilities since October 2006.  When the MicroPak data collector (released in 1990) was discontinued in March 2009, the decision was made to bring the wireless technology to LSIZE.

When collecting measurements, place the LSIZE Handheld in a convenient location in your measurement collection area (you will need it close by when you need to change bins) and then take measurements using the LSIZE Mobile Module attached to our gage.  The Handheld receives the wireless measurements from the LSIZE Mobile Module and sends a measurement received acknowledgement back to the Mobile Module.  With the large color screen on the Handheld, you can see the shape chart automatically building as you take the measurements.  You can also view stats, histograms, and control charts on the Handheld.  Depending upon which Setup & Reporting Option you purchase, you can print reports using the LSIZE Mobile Quick Print or download your measurements into LSIZE Software for PC by placing the Handheld into the Docking Station at your computer.

• The LSIZE Handheld is a ruggedized unit designed for industrial environments that wirelessly receives measurements from the Mobile Module.  The Handheld features a large color touch screen and contains the software and firmware designed and developed by MicroRidge.

• The LSIZE Mobile Module provides the wireless link between your gage and the Handheld.  The Mobile Module fits conveniently on the back of your gage and provides user feedback via highly visible LEDs.

• The Docking Station provides the communications link between the Handheld and one of the two Setup & Reporting Options on your PC .  The Docking Station is located at your computer.   When you are ready to print reports using the Wireless Quick Print utility or to download your measurements into LSIZE Software for PC, place the Handheld into the docking station at your computer.  The Docking Station also charges the Handheld.

Note:  LSIZE Wireless can be used with any Mitutoyo gage (calipers, micrometers, digital indicators, etc.) that has SPC output.

LSIZE Wireless System

An LSIZE Wireless system consists of:

• Handheld with LSIZE Mobile software and LSIZE Wireless board installed

• Docking Station package with supporting cables

• Mobile Module with Mitutoyo gage cable

• User's Guides and CD

In order to complete your LSIZE Wireless system, you need to select a Setup & Reporting Option.  The option you select will be based upon the type of analysis and report generation you need to do with the measurement information collected by LSIZE Wireless.

FCC and Industry Canada Approvals
LSIZE Wireless has been approved for use in North America, Australia, New Zealand, South America and Europe.

The radios used in the LSIZE Wireless operate in the Industrial, Scientific & Medical (ISM) frequency band at 2.4 GHz.
