LSIZE Training in Canada October 2002 in Kamloops, British Columbia.

the content, value and execution of each training is constantly improving.
The following are LSIZE
Training sessions held to date:
Training Objectives
LSIZE Training is conducted
over 2 days in an interactive classroom environment with
attendees from several mills. Our overall objective
is to increase your skills in understanding and applying the many features of

LSIZE Training Attendee Comments
from May 2007 TrainingThis year for the
first time we had a former attendee Jed Drennan, (Quality Assurance Manager,
Mason County Forest Products, Shelton, Washington) an experienced LSIZE user,
share what he learned at training, how he has applied LSIZE training at his
mill, and tips & techniques that work for him in his size control efforts.
We will continue to have a former attendee on the agenda in future training
sessions.
-
The
class exercises are the best part of the training; that's how I learn best.
-
Received
more than I expected, and it was not boring like I figured it would be.
-
As a
person new to the QC department, the training provided me with valuable tools
that I can use in the mill.
-
Jed did
a very good job of sharing ideas, reports, etc.
-
Instructors have great knowledge of material and process.
-
Will
improve our LRF and keep the management up to par.
-
It will
help with our machines and our communication between shifts, QC's, etc.
-
Help
keep products in spec and find problems on machine centers.
-
How to
read reports and determine if it is machine operator or just a bad
measurement.
-
We have
a good program with LSIZE now. The PDF feature will help me get more
information to everyone.
-
Now I
know more about the capabilities of the LSIZE software and the MicroPak.
-
Awareness heightened. We will refine our use of the LSIZE System to get
better results for the company.
-
Better
communication through the reports.
-
Better
understanding of QC and LSIZE.
-
Getting
the team leads familiar with the LSIZE process, and having the ability to
navigate through the program will give them the ability to lead the crew more
completely.
-
I
enjoyed the training and look forward to learning more.
-
Very
good class; very helpful. Thanks.
-
The
Resort is awesome. I got a lot of useful information and hope to come
back again.
The Instructors
John Schuldt,
President, launched MicroRidge in January 1984
and first worked in a sawmill in 1966. He
designed and developed the original DOS LSIZE program in 1983 in conjunction
with Terry Brown, Extension Wood Processing Specialist, Oregon State
University. It was the first dedicated lumber size control program for the
PC. John completely rewrote the original DOS version and released Windows
LSIZE in 1995. John spent two years as assistant
professor at Oregon State University in the Department of Forest Products.
His experience at Weyerhaeuser Company over an 8-year period included
management of startup training programs, small log process development, sawmill
modeling and simulation and software development. John graduated with a BS
in Wood Science and Technology from the University of Illinois, and with MS and
PhD degrees in Wood Engineering from Colorado State University. John's responsibilities for MicroRidge include general
operations and business management, and all software and hardware design
and development.
Mike Martino,
Technical Support, joined the MicroRidge team in 2000.
Mike had over 11 years
of business experience in engineering, management, customer service, and
material handling. Mike graduated from the
Central Oregon Reserve Police Academy, the Santa Clara Criminal
Justice Training Center in San Jose and West Valley College in
Saratoga, California. Mike's
responsibilities for MicroRidge include production
management, planning, purchasing & inventory
control; technical support; customer
