New Features & Enhancements

The following tables gives the highlights of the new features and enhancements in LSIZE 2008, which will be released in February 2008.  Many of the enhancements to LSIZE are recommended by users from over 300 LSIZE installations.  LSIZE 2008 new features and enhancements focus on making the program easier to use for current and new users.  Customers on the LSIZE Upgrade & Support Program receive a major upgrade each year, along with telephone training & support throughout the year.

If you are Interrupted Support and have an older LSIZE version, you can also download LSIZE 2007 New Features & Enhancements.  To access these files, you will need to have Adobe Acrobat Reader installed on your computer.  If you need Adobe Acrobat, follow the "Get Acrobat Reader" link below).

LSIZE 2008 will be released in two versions.  The first version (2008.0.1.16) was released in February 2008 and contains the new features below.  The second version (2008.1.120) will be released Fall 2008, and will provide support for the components in the new LSIZE wireless measurement collection system.  If you have LSIZE 2008 when the second version is released, the newest LSIZE version will be sent to you.

Approximately Fall 2008, MicroRidge is planning to release a new LSIZE wireless measurement collection system to replace the MicroPak data collector.  The second version of LSIZE 2008 will contain support for this new system.  Mills that have renewed "Upgrade & Support" through 2/28/09 by the 2/1/08 early renewal deadline will be offered a special discount on the new wireless system.

LSIZE 2008 New Features & Enhancements

LSIZE Feature

Description of New Features & Enhancements

Database

Default Location For Database

Currently, if you use the File Open menu item to access an LSIZE database, typically the initial folder displayed will not contain the database.  You have to manually navigate through the folders to get to the folder where your database is stored.

§       A default database location is automatically saved and is based upon the last database that was opened.

§       If you have databases located in different folders, you will get a warning each time the database from a different folder is opened.  This warning strongly recommends that you move your databases into a common folder.

Database Restore & Backup

Currently, when you restore an LSIZE database from a backup, typically the default folder has been the database backup folder rather than the folder where you are keeping you databases.  Each LSIZE database stores the location where backups will be placed.  As a result, it is possible to store each database backup in different folders.

§       You will now be able to restore a database, and the default folder will be the default location specified above.

§       You will now be able to specify a global database backup folder so that all of your database backups are stored in the same folder.

Target X-Bar & Range Changes

Tracking Changes to Targets & Specs

Currently, if you make a change in the Target Size, X-Bar, or Range specifications, there is no record kept about when these changes were made or what the previous values were.  We have had several requests to provide a history of the changes to these specifications.

§       A column has been added in the Product Specs dialog to indicate the date of the last change to these specifications.

§       A new menu item has been added to the Setup Menu that will allow you to view a report of the changes to these specifications (Setup/Product spec history).

§       A Machine Report has been added to display when the specs were changed for the current report (Analysis/Product spec changes).

§       A brown vertical line will appear on the Time Series Charts to indicate a change has been made to one of the key specifications below.

§       Specifically, the items that are now monitored are the following.  The other specs will not be monitored.

- Target Size        - X-Bar Control Limits

- Low Spec          - Range

- High Spec         - Range Control Limits

- X-Bar

Reports

Report Enhancements

1-Line Summary Report

Currently, the sort order for this report is based upon an alpha sort (i.e., sort on a, b, c, 1, 2, 3, etc.). This means that a product with a size code of 10X will appear in the list before a product with a size code of 4X.  Since this is an alpha sort and not a numeric sort, items starting with a 1 will always appear before items starting with a 4.

§       The sorting function now uses the target size rather than the size code when performing the sort.  This ensures that the size codes within a machine center will be listed from smallest to largest.

Video Report Selection

We have observed some problems with the current “Combos with measurement” display function not working properly.  Specifically, if you are looking for “Combos with measurements” for a specific shift, what will be displayed will be combos with specific measurements for the entire day.

§       This feature has been modified so that it shows the “Combos for measurements” for the time period specified.

Time Series Reports

Currently when you generate Time Series reports and specify to only use top or bottom measurements, there are no labels on the Time Series report to indicate whether the report contains only top or bottom measurements.

§       A label has been added to the Time Series report so it will be apparent that the report is based on only top or bottom measurements.

MicroPak Setup & Test

Sizeable Process Combo Dialog

Currently, in the MicroPak Specs Setup dialog, the window that is displayed for selecting the Process Combination is fairly small.

§       This Process Combination Selection dialog will now be sizeable to display more of the available process combinations.

Communications Test Program
(ComTestSerial)

Currently, the MicroPak Communications Test Program is fairly basic in capability.

§       The current test program has been replaced with a more comprehensive, stand-alone test program with printing capabilities.  We have been using this test program for several years in other market segments, and the printing capabilities can often be very beneficial for troubleshooting purposes.

Operating system support for LSIZE 2008

§       32-bit program designed for Microsoft Windows XP.

§       Will not be tested on Windows 9x or Windows 2000.

§       Has not been tested on the Microsoft Vista operating system.  Vista testing will occur sometime in 2008.

§       The minimum display resolution required is 1024 x 768.  The font size support for this resolution is “Normal Size” at 96 dpi.

Text Box: Rev 112607
